Toga, two marvelous systems. It's wonderful to have the time, money, expertise, and knowledge to put together two such beautiful elegant systems. Of course your reference system far surpasses the casual or I think more appropriately vintage system, but the Mac gear you have acquired is amazing. And that new Esoteric gear is beyond gorgeous. I know it sounds as good as it looks. Seems like many are going this route with digital. It's a true joy of mine to see folks improve their systems the way you have.

TOGA 2022 update.

What a sweet words. Thank you Charles. They are truly great, but nothing perfect. With some old digital recordings, for example Telarc’s, I remembered the ARC Ref40+Gryphon Mephisto made a more beautiful sound out of those early digital. But for newer recordings, the current system is unbelievably good. And true, this required expertises. Even bringing in new PS1 power supply, I had to relocate some power cords to rebalance the tonality. Otherwise too much bass . I explained in great details in Esoteric forum. Mac is also very enjoyable for casual Fm listening. Toga Last edited by TOGA; 01-21-2022 at 11:56 AM. |

For Mcintosh system
I did not want to spend money on cables. So I used what I had. Only IC and SC were new because I didn’t have any spare left. I use Transparent Super G5 RCA for both from tuner to pre and pre to power as Mac is not truly balanced design so using RCA saved a lot, if you know that Transparent XLR cost twice as much. For SC I chose Siltech 680P due to attractive introduction price. PC were all existing cords. Purist Neptune for C2200, Transparent PLMM2x for MR87. The reason that I did not use new Siltech Classic Legend as a complete loom was that due to nature of FM reception, silver cables will expose too much of that imperfect FM reception. I tried and chose not too. Copper cables like Purist and Transparent made the right result for me, I did not hear the bad thing out of FM as much as running full loom of silver based Siltech. For MC2102 due to unusual IEC orientation, I had to DIY with Furutech special IEC connector plus Acrolink raw PC. See picture of MC2102 with Acrolink PC9900! That look unacceptable to me, hence the DIY cord using special connector.IMG_1200.jpgIMG_1209.jpg Toga |

I have major home electrical system modification , but that could be a negative to sound of my stereo system. I will come back to report once new system become online.
As a tropical country there is too much sun in summer which cause Second floor in room temperature to be too warm despite all the insulation measures I did for the roof. I wanted a shadow on the roof. Extra roof cost a lot so I decided to do PV over the existing roofs. Total Of 10KW output in sunny day. And that mean, in sunny day, total electrical power that feed my home will be purely from solar panels And many micro inverters (Enphase). I am kinda worried that it may impact sound system performance . I have PS Audio P15 and Accuphase PS520 to deal with some harmonics From inverters, but in term of dynamic impact or a short burst, I just don’t know how a new PV and inverters will perform especially with rather small conductors used to chain each panels. Hate to be audiophile, worried too much haha. Toga P.S. will report back on impact to perceived sound quality And total harmonics distortion measured by Ps Audio P15. IMG_5838.jpgIMG_5684.jpg |
