All I know is what I have now sounds a whole lot better than what I had in my bedroom when I was a kid.

There is no solution other than listening to live music. He does have a point, it is a system that is based on compromises and we all strive for the best possible outcome within the confines of the imperfect music reproduction we call high end audio. I'm sure someday in the future we will get there but not yet, not yet. So in the mean time we go on enjoying reproduced music the best way we know how.

"If you cannot enjoy the music, then high end audio is a fallacy" - so for him it's a fallacy, but for me it exists, because I enjoy the music and am emotionally engaged by both my "anoiselog" and "dejitter."

Thanks for the link, Cohibaman. That's some mighty fine comedy. Good way to start out a new month. I really like when someone points their finger at me for emphasis during the entire video. I think it all comes down to how we define "high-end audio." I suspect that Alfonso's expectation of high-end audio is different than mine. Be that as it may, that's the beauty of the Internet, we can all share our own point of view. I could whack Alfonso upside the head with a lead pipe and proclaim "pain does not exist," but I doubt he'd believe me.

Until now, I had no idea musical artistry is destroyed by the limitations inherent in hi fi.
Must've been doing something wrong for last umpteen years... |
