If you can ever find a CRI LP, buy it. If not - the CRI American Masters CDs are awesome.
But, New World Records have digitized the CRI LP catalog, and they are supposed to be pretty darned nice. -g |

OK Barr,
It's about time I get off my lazy ass and respond to your question. Here's a short list to get you started: Beethoven Bagatelles, Brendel (many versions, get as complete a version as possible) Beethoven Diabelli Variations, Kovacevich Bach Cello Suites, Rostropovich (good comparison with Starker) Bach Well-Tempered Clavier, Hewitt Chopin Nocturnes, Pires Chopin Waltzes, Impromptus, Rubinstein Grieg/Schumann Piano Concertos, Kovacevich Horowitz In the Hands of the Master Mahler Symphony No. 6, Abbado/BPO Mozart Violin Sonatas, Hahn/Zhu Orff Carmina Burana, Jochum/Janowitz/Stolze/Fischer-Dieskau Saint-Saens Organ Works (SACD) The list above are great performances first, and reference recordings second. And it's coming from a guy who grew up listening to punk, hip hop, R&B, and jazz first and foremost, and only recently learned to appreciate classical, i.e. not stuffy, moldy fig performances. Why so much piano? Because it's so hard to reproduce accurately, especially the microdynamics of the musician's touch. All of the above are in the digital medium, however, if you can find versions on LP, grab it! PS Matt @ Pitch Perfect should be able to give you some good recommendations too. He played King Tubby when I was auditioning the Shindo gear. Last edited by watercourse; 02-20-2012 at 01:59 PM. Reason: forgot something |

Hello Steve,
I was following some of your old posts, and since I too have Shindo Giscours and GM-70's, I wanted to share some recent findings. I replaced my cheep wall plugs with some Porter Ports, and added ASC Tube Traps in all the corners as well as primary and secondary reflection points. This allowed me to greatly enhance the already terrific Shindo sound. Hope this helps. Everyone loves Matt! Seemed too good to be true until I met him - so I have to agree.

Have you been able to compare side by side the Giscours and the Vosne Romanee ? If yes, what are the main sonic differences ? Sent from my iPhone using A.Aficionado
