Default B&O Beogram 4002 Turntable

My secondary turntable is a 1976 B&O Beogram 4002 Turntable with a newer SoundSmith SMCC20CL cartridge. I use this in my office with the vintage mostly 1976 refurbished McIntosh system. I love this system as much if not more than my modern 2 channel system in my main room since it is so much more of my past. I am having speed issues at 33 1/3 and need to send to a shop for repair. I have located a person with an extensive YouTube presence that is really impressive. http://www.beolover.com that can refurbish. Suggestions?

B&O’s are a special class of their own
If you can talk to the guy on the phone and you feel ok with him. Then give him a try
Ask him questions about your model and see if he pops up with the right info
Start talking about how much weight the cart needs, And just see if he fills in the blanks. Know what I mean?

He does have a lot of informational tech on there. And that’s good. Sometimes you have to go with your gut

Hi James,
IIRC there is a guy in the Atlanta area that works on 40xx turntables. This might be him. Seems very knowledgeable. I have a 4004 and it is now waiting for restoration so I’d be interested in what you find.

If the table is important to you, you might want to check with Soundsmith. They do excellent work and while their price may not be the cheapest, the work is truly first class.

I also had one back in the late 70's.

I saved up for one that cost, I think, $475 in 1981. I loved it, spilled beer all over it and it kept on working, despite whatever I did to it. Looked awesome, awesome, awesome. Worked just fine on my isolation system at the time - plywood on cinderblocks.

I’m on my second 4004. I literally wore my first one out. There were some gears that were unobtainium at the time so I had to scrap it.

It’s not my main ‘table but I enjoy using it and it sounds better than 90% of my records.
