It's a cliffhanger.

Leif is the chief engineer at Marten. He is a HiFi-entusiast and curious. He often tries new things that he comes across in their reference system. I often been asked to come and listen. It's great fun. Everything is audible in that system and in that specific room. So it's great to try tweaks there.

There are things from the industry that has got application in our hobby. Actually this product is not that new in our hobby but I just seen it once. That was under Michael Fremers turntable. Now Marten use one under their turntable and it's very good.

It's a passive vibration platform that is something else of whats in our hobby. This has another grade of professional level. It's is used under telescopes, microscopes and other products to perfectly eliminate vibration that can harm your task.

The brand is MinusK. Fremer loves it, some more enthusiasts that I read about and now Leif is thrilled.

I just have to try one under my turntable. Thats the cliffhanger.

The 1.2's stayed in production for almost 15 years. I find the 1.25's have a more refined sound. Mac says they are on par with the 2K's (the big Mac 2000 watt amps) that have been in production for 15 years.

The problem is the space. These are 3 piece mono amps. So to do an upgrade would be to go to nine pieces of new gear. That's a lot of space but I do have it and my three 5000's would accommodate them. I'm not sure what the gain would be as the XVX is so efficient it never requires over 120 watts. So my next upgrade will be to a D1200 digital pre. But I haven't ruled out an amp upgrade. Depends on my health and a lot of things.

Best

Charles
When you found things that is right for you stick to them. Some part of this hobby is to try new things and there is always tweaks and so on. I started to lika Sonus faber and think they suits my taste best among some really good brands I'v also owned some Krell and gets back to that brand now. I just like their sound.
If I will change amps in the future it could be Dan d'Agostino.
The new McIntosh MC901 is a cool amp as well. I like the idea with tubs and solid state and bi-amping in one unit.

Carl, Realistically, I'll probably stick with my 1.25's. However, if Mac designed the new 2.1KW to run the first 100 watts full class A, it would be a terrible temptation. The Dag Relentless runs full class A for the first 99 watts. I'm going to challenge Mac to beat Relentless by one watt. Then I would buy one.

The 1.25KW runs hotter than the 1.2 by a considerable amount. I suspect because it runs class A for 15-20 watts. My XVX rarely requires over 15-20 watts.

You are full class A 100%.

I went to their website. Looks amazing. Their products seem perfect for you. The video was impressive. One of the real problems with turntables is acoustic feedback. I wonder why more vinyl enthusiasts are not using it?

So the audiophiles finally caught on to the active vibration tables that have been used in laboratories for decades under such things as electron scanning microscopes and other high precision instruments?

What rack can compare with that kind of vibration control?

Carl, I just learned that with the new self biasing transistor significant class A with Mac is not going to happen. Ultimately it's how the gear sounds and I am very happy with my 1.25KW's. With the efficiency of the XVX it will be hard to justify spending the money. Then there is the enormous increase in the amount of gear. I am truly at an endpoint with my system other than waiting for the new digital pre.

Charles... not exactly, I just learned today about something rather profound made exclusively for the Wilson XVX. It also won’t break the bank.

I should have a Green Light to discuss it anytime now...

IMO none but for most of us the price puts them in the post-lottery category [emoji1787]. Herzan TS-150s would fall under the dream system category!

Many spend much more on a rack than a platform that is 100% effective https://www.minusk.com/products/ct2-...-platform.html

If we are talking about High-End HiFi , the price on almost every part of the system is crazy, some would argue.
It's like this, ore at least can be, in any hobby, car, boat, house, art, furnitures, hourses and so on.
To reach top performance out of High-End gear the last parts gets extreme and costly. There are no shortcuts to go all the way, for those who thinks that is fun. You can always push the limit a bit further. That's the fun part.

I use some HRS products. They are very good and they are not cheap. One singel HRS-platform is not far from MinusK due to price. As a product, there is a big difference in performance of isolation. How it will work under my turntable is still to be discovered. Everything tells me it would perform better, but I could never know for sure until I listened to it.
