Default Lg 8k tv

It looks as if LG will be showing their new 8K TV at CES. I wonder just how good it will look. Since there isn't sufficient 4K content early adopters will be scrounging for something to look at.

Jim, the 8K tv will look outstanding as we can all imagine. Theirs as well as other's 4K tv are already beyond impressive. Between Netflix and Amazon, I find plenty of 4K content for the few hours time I spend watching tv daily. With 8K I don't have the slightest idea when that type of programming will appear. I think with 4K we have already crossed the threshold of extremely impressive and everything after will be diminishing returns until the inevitable day in the future where the presentation will be holographic or virtual reality.

Seems to me the 8K screens will be simply monitors to view 4K+ resolution and eventual 8K discs and web streams. As stated we still have no clue when 4K programs will be offered to the masses via xfinity and the like.
Are any movies shot in 8K now?

I remember reading last year about SB LI was to be shot in 4K and 8K with a bunch of UHD cameras, but that Fox could only broadcast the SB in HD720p.
I'm sure 4K sports are coming but who knows when.....I cannot imagine its a bandwidth problem to broadcast live for say 4-6 hours in 4K by Fox or ESPN, is it?

8K will not happen anytime soon. We are barely getting into 4K as far as programming.

That looks pretty sweet but Xfinity is still rocking 720p. I bought my first 4k tv yesterday at BB for about $200 after I used a gift card. I can't imagine 8k would even be noticeable on current screen sizes. It would be really nice on a 14ft screen though.

Xfinity is only 720? For real? I don't think that's true, but knowing those jokers...

8k on the capture end has been around commercially since 2016, maybe before.

The RED Epic W with Helium 8k sensor can do full 8k at 30 fps today. Dynamic range is over 17 stops. So the capture tools are out there.

But I'm guessing most cinema photographers will use 8k cameras to get better 4K footage.

8k is 4230p or about 34 megapixels per frame! Yikes!

I read that 8K Blu Rays will be the size of Laser Discs.

HD TV broadcasts are 720p here.
Blu-ray was already impressive at 1080p.
4K is another clear step forward.
8K might indeed, as Serge states, be the 3D of flatscreens, a dead born child, as holographic projection might be here by then.
