Default I have some tube magic back in my life

As good as the Luxman 590 A II Class "A" SS amp is, I was missing the tube magic.

I found a perfect, like new Luxman SQ-38 EL-34 based integrated for sale not too far away. I contacted the owner (great guy) and made a deal.

This is such a high quality piece of retro looking, smooth sounding gear I just love it. Packed with useful features. The headphone amp is supposed to be amazing.

It has ALL of the EL-34 sound that I have always loved.

For you visual types...

Thanks Dan,

The build quality of the LUXMAN gear is just off the charts.

Every control, knob, switch exudes quality.

Packing the best I have ever seen.

Every input around back covered with a special cap

Remotes, metal and SUPER NICE.

The sound... Sublime

Spinning Bob Marley on the Micro Seiki and the Harbeths are singing.

I always love reading about members who are thrilled with their new gear, and best of all their system is singing nicely. There is a certain "havingness" to high quality gear which gives you a sense of pride. That is a part of this hobby I really enjoy. That is the payoff for all the hard work and sacrifice.

ps: I like that word "sublime"

Stephen...congrats! I like the looks as well Harbeth speakers, despite not being super efficient, generally have benign inpedance loads and generally sound excellent with tubes. Hope this combo sounds good to you and enjoy it in good health.

Awesome. I've been admiring that amp since it was introduced.

Tubes, there's no substitute ... Alas.

Alberto,

I could not agree more.

At least these tubes are not exposed and not vintage and rare.

This is a wonderful, do it all unit. It has a fine phono stage, great headphone amp AND a remote. It looks great, it sounds great... IT IS NOT SHINDO...

I still miss my Shindo gear. The closest that I have ever been to my music in 35 years of this stuff.

Stephen : Congrats on your new amp !
Very nice !
The only SS amps that I truly love sound like tube amps and their name is always the same : McIntosh !
My vintage MC2205 is SS but surely sounds very " tube " to me.
But I agree that like you, I 'm fond of great EL34 amps. This tube is magic.
