Hi, I hv read this thread from the beginning since it covers a subject I have thought a lot about. I'm comming to a conclusion (just my opinion) that the superiority of the 45rpm is not worth the interruption and having to flip the disc pretty much 2x more.
I have read that many of you think the other way around. Maybe it has to do with the way I like to listen to music. I tend to enter into a trance (sort of speak) into the music after 5-10mins of listening. The 45s breaks this state pretty fast. In fact, this was one of the clomplaints I had when I started with vinyl. In CD equivalent, one has zero interruption. I will do some more listening over the 45s carefully since you guys tend to like it over the 33s. PS: Racetripper, I have a few Shadded Dogs I've bought recently (classical) that are 45s. best, |

I'd like to see that companies business model where a 33 is the same price as a 12 inch double 45. Think people. Bob

They made many of them one sided - that is they only put music on one side of a record - (no bleed through, I suppose) and thus making a record that was originally a single, very good sounding 33-1/3 RPM RCA Living Stereo LP, into a four record set - at astronomical cost. I was on a list to be sent the new Living Stereo records as soon as they came out - but when I got my first of these 4 record sets, I let them know, right quickly, that I didn't need any more of those. Example is the following: Now selling at Acoustic Sounds for $250.00 and not only do you have to get every few seconds to turn the records over but you have the additional hassle of having to change records 4 times - to get the same music that used to be on one record. - And in my opinion, while it may sound marginally better that my old original Living Stereo discs, it "ain't worth it" on my equipment or to my ears! As for 45rpm, I have been stocking & will want to subscribe. As for flipping, it's not different to R2R if you want the analogue fidelity. If not, there's SACD. Last edited by MyPal; 07-15-2012 at 08:57 AM. |

I still don't have any 45 RPM classical titles, although I have 60+ jazz titles. I have been enjoying some of the Speakers Corner classical reissues.
