Default McIntosh and Martin Logan CLX

Hi gang, it's been a while since I posted, but I've been watching.

I'm getting an itch for new speakers to replace my XRT1K's. I heard the Martin Logan CLXes and I was quite taken. Very different than anything I have ever heard and the voices in particular were sensational.

Any experience with the CLXes with Mcintosh equipment? From all I have read I would think that my MC501's are a perfect fit. I will still be using my JL f113 sub and might add a second one, so that addresses the bass issue.

Any other general opinions on the CLXes? I am most concerned about their ability to play loud. I listen to mostly classic rock and jazz, often quite loud -about 90db to 100db. I find this is where the XRT1K's really sing. However, I am getting increasingly concerned with my hearing and would like to listen a bit lower, but without sacrifice, which I believe the CLXes would serve me well. However, when I want to crank it, and for movies, will the CLXes deliver (with the f113 in the mix)? I have read very mixed comments on this topic.

I am hoping to be able to trade or sell my XRT1K's, XCS350, and XLS's and get the CLXes, Stage center, Source as surrounds, and a second JL f113 for an even swap. Any thoughts on the market for my prestine speaker system with all boxes?

Thank you all in advance for your feedback!

I am using the CLX's for my front left and right speakers. The Stage for the center, and the Motif's for the surrounds. I am using one JL113 for my sub. My amp is the MC402, and MC205 for surrounds. These speakers play plenty loud in two channel for me. They rock. For HT they sound fantastic also. Once in a while my MC205, the red lights flicker. That is at extremely high volume for my listening area. The JL113 sub blends very well with the CLX's for two channel music. My processor is the MX150. In my opinion the CLX's and JL113 sub are one of the best sounding speakers for two channel music that I have heard. The midrange and highs are excellent, and very detailed. This speaker does not have extremely deep base, but the JL113 works very well with this speaker. It is able to keep up with the speed of the CLX's. Hope this helps you.

I auditioned them with MC2301's and I had to back down before the CLXs. You'll want to pair them with a sub or two to get the most out of them.

JR, if you want to see my set up, go to McIntosh gallery #645 and #650 under CLX. It is under McIntosh Gallery Show us your system. Around page #65. There many nice systems to look at. It will keep you going all day.
