I love the sound of my Meridian gear. I started off with a 207 Cd player and a pair of 205 amps. I didn't change until I bought a G06 CD player, family commitments etc. I then added a pair of second hand DSP5500's and wow! I was so impressed I sold a lot of gear and bought a G61R. and a DSP5000. I joined meridian unplugged as I couldn't get anything up and running. in the old days one simply connected everything up, but now one needs a PC. I soon changed my 5K for a 5500 HC as I feld the5K didn't match the 5500. once the G61R is set up and room correction is done - the sound is second to none. Mind you, I had to buy a HD621 to get the full sound, which was a shock! I have now added a pair of second hand P330W on wall speakers and I am very happy. one more thing I also bought a SW5500 sub, nothing has gone wrong (yet) so I can't comment only that it all seems very reliable

Update:
My older DSP5000C apparently kicked the bucket some weeks ago, but I managed to find a later example of the same in top condition (With factory 24/96), so my system is again up and running. My DSP 6Ks had a major rebuild/ update some while back, so hopefully they will last a while.

As many times before, I am astonished by the quality of the acoustic wall of sound these items can generate, even from older recordings (Ry Cooder and Taj Mahal today, mostly in Trifield, while a newer recording of Haendel's Water Music seemed to work best in Direct).

Newbie to this forum here :-)

My first step to high quality music reproduction was in 1996 when i auditioned a lot of equipment. i was most impressed by a Meridian DSP5000 + 500 spinner and a 500 series based system. I then bought my first Meridian set which was based around 501, 557, 504 and 506.20, and Xanadu Reference monitors. Nicely linked together via some modest MIT cables. Next improvement was to change the 501 for a 502 and link it via balanced MIT and new MH750 series for the speakers. I then changed the Xanadus for Maggies, loved it.
I became tired of the whole setup and mess therefor sold it all except for the 506.20. I finally purchased some DSP5k and had alot of fun just spinning disks.
Last year i made the jump to DSP7200.2, MC200, MS200. I either sell the oldkit or use it in my office, now it is boxed.
Today i am comtemplating to get an 818. Enough to look forward to!

Found this thread and thought I would comment ...

I owned an original Meridian Pro CD player, which was the first player to make RB CD sound like something that resembles music. Good piece for its time. I still own a 200/203 combination which continues after about a quarter century to faithfully serve in the train room. I am currently using a G08 which is running through the DAC in my Mc C2500. Except for the occasional firmware scramble in the G08 (easily rebooted), these pieces have performed admirably with comparatively musical sound reproduction over the years. The DAC and tube line stage in the Mc C2500 are providing a considerable sonic step up over the resident DAC in the G08, but then there have been significant advances in digital over the last seven years. Nothing beats vinyl, however.

As a side note, because it was mentioned earlier in the thread, shopping for high end hi-fi in SE Michigan is nothing like the old days when one could walk down Woodward Ave. and hear pretty near everything. One has to be more resourceful or travel to major markets on the coasts to catch some of the more esoteric exotica. Paragon in Ann Arbor is most likely the best we have at this time.

Hello, does anyone know, if I can install an SSD on my Sooloos system that consists of Control 10 and Ensemble equipped with a 2TB Hard disk (800GB are used)?

Yes
Just copy the current C10 hd onto an SSD and you are good to go
