Thanks Graham
I'll be heading over to yours at some stage to have a listen to the Mag + Shindo if that's ok: I think that is what my Quads need

Hey Andy,
re: Dropping over... Would be a pleasure... can you drink with broken ribs? Just got/getting some silver eclipse IC's thru Ivan so hopefully you can wait till they've got a few more hours up and have opened up a bit... one day in and they are doing exactly what Chessman said on his wireworld thread... great timbre and detail, extended highs and solid bass and the soundstage gone temporarily awol... looking forward to them easing into their 50 hour break in point where they will just start to get it all together and the hi-fi becomes music again. BTW the guy who brings Sanders magtech in to Oz also carries Quad so he might be able to give you the heads up on how they go together. I played him my shindo pre when it had only about 60 hours up on it and he liked it a lot... the shindo has bloomed considerably more since then. Anyway, will chat soon about catching up... hang in there with the quads... they will be back on track in no time and this will just be a few unwanted stress lines on your brow and a funny anecdote to tell the grandkids (not)... best wishes. cheers Graham Main Music:Meridian and Onkyo transports>Wireworld silver starlight usb>Pure Music>Mac Air with 256GB SSD>Wireworld silver eclipse 6, Straightwire and Kimber ICs>Calyx DAC>Shindo Aurieges L>Sanders Magtech>Wireworld Silver Eclipse 6 SCs>Magnepan 3.7 Head Music: Audeze LCD2 and AKG 702>Violectric V200 headphone amp AV:Oppo 95 (coming soon)>Straightwire ICs>Peachtree Nova>Quicksilver GE 8417 monos>biwired Kimber 8tc>Proac Response 2 |

I am so sorry Andy. Quads are so beautiful to listen to - so delicate - so refined - such great transparency - infinite depth of field - but unfortunately (infrequently) susceptible to mishap.
I hope the travel time and repair are within reasonable tolerance, and that you aren't without music for a protracted period. I was so happy for you when you announced the arrival of the Quads and hope you are quickly returned to the bliss you've been experiencing from the gorgeous music they provide.

REALLY sorry to hear that Andy. But I am sure that Luxman of yours will make sweet music even with a temporary replacement speaker.

Andy, Sorry to hear about the Quads! I hope you find a fast easy fix for the issue, and get back to listening quickly. BTW I hope the ribs are better.
Regards, Jim

Thanks Jim.
Ribs are generally getting better, but I'm up and down a little. Last night was a shocker - fitful sleep woken every hr or two by pain: just couldn't get comfortable. It seems as they nit, and as the muscles, tendons and cartilage repair, they are getting super sensitive and stiff. Sigh. As for drinking Graham...not sure Codeine and alcohol are a good mix unless you are ready for bed! In truth I doubt I'll make it over for a few weeks: I've got some work coming up that will take priority. I am really looking forward to it though. I've scrounged back my vintage Rogers speakers from a mate so they will give me tunes for the time the 2905's are out of service: I'm guessing at least a month. One of the big problems is physically getting them to the repair man. They aren't small although I think they will fit in the back of my Honda Jazz (Fit). That thing is a Tardis. As Julian says...what Quads do they do exceptionally well...but they are susceptible to being damaged. I'm not sure the QC is all it could be. On the plus side my dealer in the UK has stepped up to the plate immediately and will cover all repairs here. He is talking to Quad UK technical about the likely issues to address. Cheers A
