Default Oh No....Blown panels in my new Quads!!

The worst of all things to happen to 2905's has I think come to pass: defective panels in my brand new (well ex demo) 2905's: protection circuit is cutting in constantly at 80 db levels and shutting down my 550A in consequence. I thought it was my 550A until I hooked up a mate's Leben today ....no protection circuit in the Leben = panel constant cutting in and out. Spoke to a tech who said ...yup...blown panel or two. Get out your cheque book!

Oh dear. Problem is I bought them in the UK so back to the UK they will have to go for warranty. Ouch. That will learn me to privately import things like panel speakers.....

Oh well back to the DT 880's for a couple months...

Sorry Andy,

First the ribs, now the panels....: next year will be better my friend !
Panels are fragile. Nothing to regret here.
I hope that they will be repaired very fast.
Cheers,

So do I. Unfortunately, unlike the US, "fast" and "repair" are not two words commonly associated in Australia. Oh well...trying to be Zen about it. Have got over wanting to drag them out onto the front lawn with a can of petrol...

I actually had a sensation of fear knowing I won't have music this weekend. I'll be jonesing for the tunes! Oh no! I think I better borrow some speakers pronto. Now...where are my old Rogers LS 4a's at??

Hi mate,

Seriously sorry to hear about the quads... nothing worse than suddenly being musically marooned... especially when you've got a great set-up like yours and used to something special.

Used to have a occassional issues with my quicksilver amps going molten and taking out drivers in the proacs... now always have top headphones on standby just in case.

(The Audeze LCD2 and Violectric headphone amp set me back 2k and sound sensational... like a top end reference system and every bit as musical).

Anyway, hope the quads get well soon... and your ribs... best wishes

cheers
Graham
