Dan my Mac days have come and gone. I loved my wall of Mac stuff but as I get older I want lighter gear.

You might want to look up the new Nagra 300B amp. I have not heard it but the Nagras always sound good.

Howie I will read up on the Nagra amps.

I hear you. I was hoping the Burmester would give me the dynamics and a SET amp the intimacy.

I agree push what you sell, but what I did not mention is that he kinda trash talked brand A over brand B.......for me it just did not seem very professional.

Unfortunately there are too many dealers who do that too.

Hi John,

I'm a little confused, do you still want Shindo? I can understand wanting a different flavor in your stereo. I'm headed towards Conrad Johnson for something a little different. My ET5 pre works great with my MC601's and will try it on my 911 for fun. I have an MV60 coming for a warmer presentation. If you fell in love with the Shindo sound, explore it because it will always be in the back of your mind.

I'm hopefully going for a second Shindo listen in a couple of weeks I don't recall saying I was in love with Shindo. I like it but I wasn't floored, but that's my personality. I'm going to listen to Don's Lafon Western Electric 300B Limited. My goal is to run a Burmester system and a SET system with the Canterbury. I just think after reading what Serge said about running out of steam on complicated music at higher levels. I think if I go the 300B route I need a push pull 300B squeezing 18watts.

Sorry, loved was my word. I went back and re-read the first post. I guess ultimately it's tough to find the perfect mix. I am curious to read your thoughts on the Lafon WE 300B limited. I always read great things about the 300B tube but never actually bought an amp based on them. I've had 2A3's and just did not have the right speaker at the time. But at sane, low listening levels, it was pretty special. Please keep us updated.

John,

With those marvellous speakers, knowing that you were looking for a SET amp, if I was in your shoes, I would buy a Shindo system : preamp and amp.
For a very simple reason : if you don't like it, you will sell it very easily. Plus, you will really have a different flavor from tne Burmester....
