I have heard them a couple of times. I can't say I heard anything wrong with them, nor did I dislike them. They also did not make me want to add them to any must have list.

I heard them and really liked the way they sound. I just can't get used to the way they look. A bit like aliens that look surprised.

Dealer shipped his personal pair to me for free to demo. I dropped them in the listening room last Saturday and ordered them up the same day. He's even going to let me keep the demos until my pair (in black) w/ matching center channel arrive. On top of that, he doesn't charge retail or shipping AND he'll fly to Seattle to set them up -- all of which is included in the price!
Can't say enough good things about how they sound in my room; my pair of f112s really aren't needed -- in fact friends asked how they sound w/ the subs off! The speaker's frequency measurements don't really tell the tale of how they can load a room. Currently running the PWD w/ Bridge direct through the Classe without bass management or PEQ. BTW, another very positive review will becoming out in February's Stereophile. PM me for the dealer's info if you're interested in demoing a pair. |

Hello,
This is my first post! I heard the Vivid Audio B1 the first time at the New Music Show in Brussels in October last year. That was the time I was building up my new stereo system. Had tested lots of good speakers already, and was going for a complete Burmester system. Bought all the electronics of the 'Classic line'. And was saving for a nice pair of Burmester speakers (which dó sound really good!). And then I heard these strange Vivids... and fell immediately in love with the lovely little aliens. I continued my pursuit of the best sound for my bucks though, listened to B&W, Martin Logan, Wilson Audio, Focal, Kef, Vienna Acoustics, Magico, Adam Audio, MBL... But I couldn't forget the so... vivid sound of the B1's. One problem: the Mrs didn't like the looks at all. She had to admit though it was a brilliant sound. She preferred the Giya's. Oops, these are 3 times the price. So I wrote Laurence Dickie to ask him where I could audition these (not possible in my country). To my surprise, he invited us to his English headquarters in Billinghurst, West-Sussex. And there my wife and I spent a wonderful day with the creator and the manager themselves. We connected the Burmester gear and heard the most wonderful sound we had ever experienced. We also tested the G2Giya's, which actually don't come far behind. And the B1's? Well, they offer almost the same transparency and soundstage, but don't go so deep. No escape possible: our loudspeakers will be made in South Africa... Start saving! Bart |

yes, welcome. I agree, I tried many of the speakers that you did including some of the favs here @ AA and the B-1s were for me.
Still living with the demos, but my speakers should be here shortly. Luckily I don't have room for Giyas! BTW, the B-1s got a review in this month's Stereophile. Last edited by ChrisG; 01-26-2011 at 11:54 PM. |
