the deep.......I hear you. I use to be drawn to the brawny Krell amplifier look, too. This is a Krell, in my opinion.

I hear you there guys..I have been looking for a KSA300s and/or FPB600/700 for a while now...after buying my first ever Krell-a KSA250.I could not even imagine what people thought when they first tried one of these in 1990...BUT at 1250watts of constant HEAT...no thanks.I can handle 450watts of heat at idle but 12amps is a little much for my room or I would have a pair of MDA500's.

Ivan.......A friend worked for an audio dealer who sold Krell. Every tie I went into the store where he worked we would listen to this amplifier, and other Krell's. He would spend at least a half hour trying to convince me of the advantages of Krell over McIntosh every time I was in the store. I always liked the look of the big beefy Krell amps, just not the sound.

Anyone noticed the connection between the input signals sockets (both XLR/RCA) and the internal card is being served by those cheap 20cents white colour harness wiring and connector ?

Surprisingly I found the same type of cheap harness connection in my EVO 402 as well, connecting the back panel sockets (XLR/RCA/Cast) to internal board. I've seen in many other amps the signal inputs are soldered directly onto the board, and via quality wire/ solid core copper. Makes you wonder how much of sound quality is being degraded at this weak link? Also all the expensive interconnect cable that we use seems to be a waste in this case.

They have omitted all the internal connectors in that photo, there are also lots of wiring linking up the board to the PCB on top of it near the front panel not shown in the picture. I think that particular image was taken without all the internal wirings to look "clean". The basic internal layout is same as my 402. Just open up the top cover to view the actual connections, else, you can also peep through the side venting slits and you'll see some of the wires not shown in the picture.

The same cheap white harness connector is also used in the 600. Refer to the picture with top cover removed in the EVO600 review by HiFi News

I will open it up and see, I can not believe they would skimp on anything in this amp. If it is so I will get the reasoning from my dealer, which means we will just call Bill and ask. I am assuming the answer will be that changing the AWM style cable to something better will not improve the sound or that cable makes upgrades user friendly. Doesn't hurt to ask.....
