I had read in these threads just last week how noticable the change was, and while I know I needed the protection the PPP provides, I really was not sure that "I" could really hear a difference. How wrong I was. To me, the improvement was even more apparent than when I added the MDA-1000. The background was pitch black. Pure "quietness". I seem to have an improved dynamic range, and the bass seems a but more refined. I really think that this was a great investment.

One question though... It says my input THD was 4.7% and the output is .6% The input voltage is 124, and the output is 123, showing a difference of one. Shouldn't the output be 120. The lit says that the default is 120. I know that my power source is terrible, and I have no upgraded wiring for my system. Thoughts?

Thanks Ivan.. Another happy customer. I appreciate the advice fromlast week.

JDCheek,

I also recently took delivery of a PPP, amazing product. I have gone back n forth as to which made a bigger improvement in my system...the MCD500 or the PPP, both purchased same time. The PPP is THAT good. With input THD 4.7%, i can only imagine the difference the PPP made in your home. My input THD is 1.7% and the improvement in sound is still undeniable. Enjoy the benefits of pure, regenerated PS Audio power.

Awesome. Thanks for the tip, i dont believe this is discussed in the manual and thus i never would have went looking.

My output voltage has settled in at 121 volts, the perfectionist in me will titrate it to 120v

Thanks for the great tip Ivan. I said in my review in the McIntosh forum that one of the PPP's was at 120v and the other at 121v. It was such a simple adjustment and now they are both at 120 and steady. Again, what a great product.

Likewise, thanks for the adjustment tip. My incoming voltage shows 125v, and my output voltage shows 122. I will make this adjustment to mine as well when I get back from my trip.

Where are all you guys getting this high voltage? I check mine on a regular basis and it fluctuates between 117 and 121 before correction. Does your proximity to a transformer play into this?
Jim

Good question. Mine was regularly around 119 (as shown by a not-to-be mentioned-brand surge protector/power conditioner I was using several years ago) until I had several dedicated circuits installed. I'm also not sure if it's that as much as nobody has yet had to run any A/C much since we've had a pretty cool spring.

Also, I don't know if it makes any difference or not, but I am running my PPP downstream of my PS Audio PowerPlay 1500 UPS.

I have no answer either. I have 2 dedicated lines with the PPP's plugged directly into them and they each read 125v coming in and now each at 120v going out.

Made the adjustment. Thanks for the tip. My input varies, but is always above 120, usually btween 121 and 125. That cannot be good on the tubes in the MC-275!

Wow guys! I knew the PPP was good. But I didn't know just how good. I can't wait to get one!

Jim.......It is not just your proximity to a transformer, but also the transformer's connected load, and the transformer line side voltage, as well. Also, some transformers have taps, where output voltage can be adjusted. It is general utility company practice to run the outputs a bit high, anticipating connected load, and voltage drop from cable runs to bring the user's voltage to plus or minus 3 to 4 volts of 120 VAC. If, like me, you are fortunate to have your own dedicated utility transformer, it will typically be a little hotter than one that has two, or three homes connected to it. Mine outputs 123 to 124 VAC all the time, day or night.

Almost all electronics and AC electric motors are designed to function properly with a voltgae tolerance of plus or minus 5%. That's a 6 VAC swing above or below 120 VAC, although it is always most desirable to operate all electronic and electrical equipment at the designed optimum voltage.
