Cabling up a streamer with SR cables
Hi,
For say 2000 EUR I buy a good streamer without DAC. Such thing gets ethernet IN and USB/ spdif coax OUT (and power of course) What is according to you a reasonable normal ratio for cost hardware/sum of 3 cable costs? What is the sum of the costs for power, ethernet, usb cable you would choose?? THX BR Gerard |

There is no normal. You decide what level of connection to the rest of your setup you will have. Good streamers holds som serious SQ in them today. But how will you bring that SQ out, that is up to you.
I have the Meridian 210 MQA streamer in two setups. This MQA streamer is about 1k. Reference Setup: Power: Triton V3, Sigma Digital, C5 Venom 14 adapter cable. CGS (chassi grounding): Triton V3 SGS (signal grounding RCA): Nordost QKore 6 Ethernet in: Audioquest Vodka Digital AES/EBU out (ethernet): Audioquest Diamond Vibration Control: HRS bricks (top weight) and pucks Kitchen setup: Power: Ifi powerstation, Furutech FI/38 Ericsson 2.5mm EKKJ cable), Shunyata C5 Venom 14 adapter cable. CGS (chassi grounding): none SGS (signal grounding RCA): None Ethernet in: Supra Cat8 Digital AES/EBU out (ethernet): Furutech Cat6A Vibration Control: none What level of system are you thinking of connecting your streamer? I think that would help us narrow down what would be cost effective and reasonable in your setup. |

If you start with a complete Shunyata Venom loom as a base and go from there if you want something more stellar.
If you are aiming for reference performance, Alpha series is a very nice choice. Last edited by crion2; 05-01-2020 at 02:16 PM. |
