I plugged a Sophia blue 6SN7 in my amp yesterday. Needs hours but seems very promising. Overall I prefer the Chinese CV-181's to old production 6SN7's. As always, YMMV.

I have not tried the aqua rectifier and will likely try a pair of the Sophia blue ST EL34's down the road.

Trying to understand why the blue glass would offer any advantage to the clear glass. Anyone got any links to info on blue vs clear and why it would affect the sound?

FWIW, there is an explanation of the why of blue glass on the Sophia site or the PF review. The 6SN7 sounds different than any of the variants I have but I'm not sure about the blue glass color and sonics.

Thanks for the link. He was obviously very pleased with his 'blue bulbs'. Will try the clear ones (274B & a pair of 6SN7) first. I did enjoy the pic of his EL34 with the crooked envelope just above the base. Am sure it has no impact on sound, but..........

Aren't the Sophia driver tubes the same as those from TJ Fullmusic?

Woo WA6 headphone amp.

Hmmm........... wonder if Dennis would have any interest in adding a headphone amp to his line-up?

The now discontinued Sophia 6SN7 sure looks like a TJ but I have not tried them.

Sophia claims that this tube, and I assume the rest of the aqua/blue series, are their design executed by TJ. It sounds quite good in my rig. It may still need more time to settle in. It is a rich and full sounding tube with plenty of extension and detail. Violins are woody. Piano sounds right. I prefer toe tapping musicality over the last bit of detail. This tube has it. YMMV.

I thought he had a headphone amp marketed by Moon Audio? I have no idea how it would fare in the Woo. There may be more info on HeadFi.
