I Have only live with Mk I for 2 years and found nothing wrong with it, thye're a true multi purpose speakers . I may even not push it to the limit just yet. Will 44,000$ better spend elsewhere, like trading old amps/pre for a pair of Soulution 701/725, I don't know. At 44,000$ , consider new parts involved. It's like buying a 2-way speakers sans enclosures. But I am really glad that it can be upgraded anyway.. May be one day... This year I've already invested a lot in analog play back system and just got a pair of new subwoofers. Not a lot of fund left. I have just finished installing new outlet for these new subs a minute ago. No.. they are not Qsub18... These new subs are small part of the reason that slow down the Mk II upgrade plan haha. Toga
Toga, what subs did you go with? I'm surprised you didn't go with Qsubs.

I would go for the Soulution 701 first, but it is still a lot of money...

This past week I took delivery on the Soulution 725 pre and 711 stereo amp to drive my Raidho D5's. I also had the chance at the same time to home demo the Soulution 701 mono blocks. The 701's are sonically superior to the 711 in almost every way. Big delta in price.

I was sorry to see the 701's go and I am reconsidering. If I hadn't heard the 701's I'd be perfectly happy with the 711. But when you know there is something better out there...

Congrats on the 711/725. Haven't had a chance to hear the Raidho D5s but they must sound great with the 711/725. Happy listening.

I heard the 701/725 combo paired with the Magico Q7 and the QSub. It did not leave me feeling the 711 was a significant step down, but probably because it was under show conditions. I've been advised by others that the 701s offer a very important incremental improvement over the 711.

At the same time, I've heard from reliable sources that the 701/725 paired with the new Q7mkii offers a sonic performance at an incomparable level.

The 701 and mkii upgrades are a clearly the next steps for my system; but it is so hard to pull them both off at the same time. At this point, I'm grateful that Magico offers the Mkii upgrade path for the Q7 and will move on that first. I'll just start saving my pennies now in the hopes of possibly acquiring the 701 monos somewhere down the road with the blissful ignorance of not having heard the 701s in my system 🙉

Demo I visited with Q7 mkI, 711/725 was the best combo I ever listened to and not by a small margin.

To my ears no flaws at all, 701 might be overkill in most rooms except maybe a church hall. (711 was not running out of steam, even with big dynamic recordings)

What I am thinking is, there are many ways to improve the system with $44,000. What would be the most optimum way. If I sold both ARC Ref40 and Gryphon Mephisto to get Soulution 711+725. But what do my current amp/preamp done wrong ? No.. So there is not a reason to sell them. or to upgrade to Q7 MK II. or to upgrade cables to Transparent Opus Gen V. I asked Mr Wolf once is there any way to upgrade tweeter in Q7 to be the new diamond one like M Project , he replied " no" because of the difference in size. I was disappointed. But now he manages to do that, I'm glad. But the cost and procedure seems totally prohibitive to me. If it had been 20,000$ with a kit/tools that can be done locally by trained dealer then I would have joined the train ! but 44,000$ and have to ship them back to factory and return all old drivers/xover seems too much for me. But I admit I really want to upgrade but I just can't. Toga Oh BTW, Charles, my new subs are a pair of Martin Logan Balanced Force 212.

I certainly would not get rid of the REF 40 it is one great preamp. There is nothing wrong with your current amp / preamp. TOGA the other option is to stay with what you have and enjoy the music as you have put together one great system. Remember the law of diminishing returns in this hobby.

Happy listening.

As most upgrades when you have already achieved some rather elevated results ...
