different stroke for different folks. The Q1 were best at show, by far, IMO. If you like the YG, and the Dyn, I can see why you would not be 'overwhelmed' by any of the Magicos…

I have found with Magico, system synergy is key. I've heard the Q1's sound amazing driven by a Vitus SIA-025, Vitus SCD-010 & Siltech Royal Sig series cables. Apparently Magico & Vitus are a match made in Heaven, and the Siltech cables had great synergy as well. Given the S1's use almost identical drivers, i'm sure they would sound great with Vitus as well.

Would be interested to know if any other folk who have heard the Q series with Vitus before?

Default Update on s1

Any update on the S1? I have put this speaker on my upgrade shortlist and want to audition it.
Cheers,
Sid

I would check during/after CES, apparently the SCC (center channel) is being unveiled there and the S1 is the closest thing they have to a rear channel.

I greatly preferred (and bought) the YGA Carmels over the Q1. I would try and get a deal on them or buy a used pair over the entry level magico. Try and listen to a pr.

Thanks Tom,
Unfortunately I am based in India. There is no YG dealer here, so only option is import which works out rather expensive due to duties.
Cheers,
Sid

Very interesting.

What do you feel the Carmels do better than the Q1s?

Not my experience. My Minis, which are not in the same league as the Q1s, sounded a lot better than the Carmels. Even the local YG distributor, that brought them over, had to agree with me.

Image, detail, a more lively and realistic sound. Combined with a pr. of F110 subs a few grand less and even a bigger divide in sonic quality to me. I have not heard the new entry 2-way. But having heard the Q1, I would be suprised if they (new magicos) can come close to the Carmels.
For the record, my two favorite lines of speakers are the YGs and magicos.

Looks like we both bought what we like.
So I'm clear, when I do make a move from the Carmels, it will be either the Kipods or Q3s if bought new, Q5 or Anat if a super deal came along. I dont dislike the Q1s, just didnt think they are as good as what I'm hearing now.
