Nice job. It must be nice to have wood working skills. What are the speakers? The finish and bottom on the right speaker look like my Aerial Acoustics 7T.

Thanks for the nice comments, folks.

I have just finished reading Jim Smith's Get Better Sound and at his suggestion will be moving the rack out from between the Aerial Acoustics 7T speakers (good eye, BlueFox). It will be over on one side of the room rather than the front wall, requiring some long speaker cables. Hope the compromise of giving up short, fancy cables for allowing the speakers room to breathe will be worth it in overall sound. Tweak, tweak.

It's going to be a while, but I'll post some pics then. Gotta make up some brawny 12/4 cables and dress them up pretty to match the room.

I wouldn't worry to much about moving the rack. Lots of open space there to let the sound flow around the gear.

I replaced an entertainment center, with closed sides, that I was using for a rack with a four shelf Mapleshade Samson v.3 rack which is open like your rack. The sound just easily flows around it now. Maybe move the speakers out a bit more to avoid moving the rack. Personally, I like looking at the gear.

I decided to just DO it and see what it did sonically to put the rack on the side of the room. I wanted to get the tube amp away from between the speakers and just see what the sound differences were to me without a big piece of furniture scattering the sound. I sort of obliged myself by having an electrician install a 20 amp dedicated circuit with floor outlets in two places.

I am planning on trying a short, thick TubeTrap in place of the wicker as a plant stand, plus a few more acoustic enhancements.

It seems as though the imaging is a bit more natural and the soundstage a bit deeper with this configuration. I'm also breaking in new speaker wires, so things aren't settled yet. Sounds pretty darned good to me.
