Default Advice: Fitting 5 components on a 4-wide storage unit + flat spot to place laptop?

Hi...wondering if anyone has tips on how to fit 5 components on top of a 4 unit wide base. Will try framing the exact situation below, and if anyone has advice I'm all ears! Been twisting my brain trying to think of options. Thanks in advance...

SITUATION & GOALS
> Currently have a BDI furniture unit that is 77" long, so could squeeze 4 components across the top (but barely). Inside the BDI unit can get hot, so I try to avoid fitting anything high end inside... I typically use it as storage of ugly items that should be hidden such as HDMI receiver, wifi router, ps3, cable modem, dvr, etc.
> As an ideal end state, I would like to eventually fit on top of this furniture 5 components: 2 x MC1.2kw + C2300 + Esoteric K03 + VPI Classic.
> I would also like the ability to "plug and place" a MacBook on top a component (such as above the K03) so when playing files from my Mac as the primary source, a short WW USB could be used from the Mac to the K03.

Any ideas for how to accomplish this? I'm unfamiliar with what items would be "stackable" raw (without additional shelving between), or if there's anything that could be purchased to help two units stack on top of each other. In that case, I assume the best combo would be the VPI Classic above the C2300 if there's a slim and safe way to stack these).

Yes, I have LONG way to go on purchases, but want to solution how this would work.

Thank you for reading, and sharing your advice and experiences.

You are better off placing a media server under the K03.

The rest seems like a worthy and achievable goal/idea.

Ryan.......Your two MC1.2Kw amplifiers with the C2300 and the Esoteric K-03 will consume the entire top shelf of your BDI cabinet. I would NEVER consider placing a turntable on top of a component. I would consider moving the VPI turntable inside one of you openings on a slide out shelf. With the internal dimensions, a cabinet maker can make a solid shelf with ball bearing slide outs that would work perfectly for both using and storing your turntable.

Emile, Dan, thank you both. These are perspectives I need to hear

I do keep in mind the idea of owning one of your media servers, so good to know it could be placed under a K03.

The slide-out option for storing/using a VPI is clever if I can get the exact width to work. If not, maybe I just "do the right thing" and get a more component friendly (and open faced) storage unit when I hit critical mass with the 5th component. Replacing the BDI.

I think your cabinet is by far the least expensive part in your system.

If you outgrow it, you should buy something else with more room or flexibility to grow.

The full extension drawer glides are great, but I would go one step further since it is for a turntable. Make the shelf/drawer with higher side panels, maybe six inches tall and use TWO drawer glides per side. It will greatly (MORE than double) increase the weight bearing capacity and increase rigidity against vibration when music is playing.

I would just buy new audio racks as GaryProtein suggested.

You can go as cheap as 3 of these for example:

Salamander

or as expensive as you wish.

Get a good piece of timber and use some iKEA feet to create a second storey above the Esoteric that will allow you to place the Mac on top of it.

You can wall mount a platform to support the VPI. In fact, here's an excellent one

Gary - thank you for this tip on the double-sliders to increase stability of the TT, makes sense

Krustycat - appreciate the advice and the link

Doggiehowser - thanks, a little DIY shelf with quality wood to build a resting platform above the K03 for the laptop sounds nice regardless of what full solution I go with...as a good close placement of the Macbook to the DAC. Thanks for this wall mount link as well, that thing holds more weight than I ever would have guessed!
