I had considered the 881 and ultimately decided I'd replace the BD player too often to spend that kind of money, so I bought an MCD500. I now have the BDP-93, which is a great BD player, but I haven't bothered using it for music. I doubt it would hold a candle to the MCD500. Anyone else have both?

+1. Digital, especially video, technology changes too fast. I made the mistake of buying a MVP871 when it came out for almost 5K (granted, it's CD/SACD capability is not too shabby). Now, my PS3 at 299 out-performs it in video by a long shot because it player blu-ray. I'll never make the same mistake again. Who knows, maybe 4K resolution will be out in the next few years.

I hope they will have them available before I visit the US in February. Will surely get one.

I am with you on this one. I love my MVP871, but don't rent many movies, and never buy any. I just play a lot of concert videos.

For the prices of even the SE units, these are a great bargain for the money.

Default Oppo BDP-95

Just put in my order for the Oppo BDP-95. Looks like they will start shipping between 2/1 and 2/4 and they have a limited supply at launch.

Hopefully I will be enjoying next weekend!

Yep - I received my pre-release email and placed my order in the past hour as well. Looking forward to auditioning it soon!

Put my order for the BDP-95 in this morning after settling the internal debate about what to do with the BDP-93 I just bought.

It's NetFlix ready! My two sons in college are convinced BluRay will have a short shelf life. Why buy BluRay movies when for 7.99 a month you can stream good quality movies to your TV via NetFlix for pennies a day.

I received my Oppo BDP-95 on Wednesday eve and unboxed it tonight. The build quality is definitely a step above the BDP-83, and I like the way Oppo laid out the back panel with both the balanced outputs and the spacing for the multi-channel RCA analog outputs.

More to come with initial impressions regarding sound quality and a comparison to my Modwright Oppo BDP-83 this weekend...

Has anyone compared sound quality to the Nuforce BDP 83 SE?
