In the end, using it like that, I find it does a nice job, noticeably improving the sound without sounding strange.

After doing some acoustic treatment and better speaker placement, now my DG-58 performs pretty well on both smooth and flat VC.

I am still working on improvement of my system. My final target is "VC off" all the time.
