Excellent, have you managed any 'air' time with the new amps as yet VP? The circuit boards 'thing' remains an enigma then!?!???!

Here is the reply from Kal.
"Earlier REF250 had the tan colored board. We have switch suppliers and more recent amps and current amps come with the green board. " I still got my new Amp with TAN boards. What is meant by 'R' in 250SE-R? |

I have been operating upon the same information VP, hence my scratchings on the subject earlier, did you inquire regarding the mystery 'R' in your recent comms?

I.am running my Amp at least 22 hra/day with full air conditioning and it sound little things when compared to my old 250s. Also I have to turn on my volume to 45 on my preamp to get the sound around 70DB. I used to keep it at 30 with my old Amp. Not sure why.

VP...that doesn't sound right. The 250SE should have just as much gain as the 250 (theoretically should have more with use of KT150 tubes vs KT120 but since ARC is driving them more conservatively, let's assume same power output as with the baseline Ref250 amps). I would call Kal and ask him about this because you should be getting the same volume output as with your prior Ref250 amps. I am assuming you have not changed your preamp by the way which if I recall correctly is the Ref 10, is that correct?

No. I have not changed my Preamp. I still have REF 5SE. I will email Kal in the morning.

How are you getting along VP? Any more feedback from Kal regarding your mystery buff PCB, sporting -R designation.
Rather frustratingly I am down with a minor bout of The Plague this week and have had to postpone the delivery of my own 250se's until a week hence, however I did ask my dealer to check the shipping box and labels, No -R designation anywhere in addition to REF250se and were build to order approx a month ago. More importantly, how are they currently performing in your Rig ATM ? J. Last edited by Harlequin; 11-06-2015 at 03:27 AM. |
