Saw him play several times. Very frail in his last performances but still played amazingly well. Great guitarist and brilliant slide player. Went back to his Texas blues roots in later life. Agree, he will be missed. RIP Johnny.

I had the pleasure of seeing Johnny join his brother Edgar onstage (sitting in with Edgar Winter's White Trash, together with Rick Derringer) at the "Crystal Palace Garden Party" in London in the summer of 1972. Other peformers included Arlo Guthrie, Loggins & Messina and Roxy Music (it certainly was an eclectic line up). I'll never forget this Texas Legend's searing guitar work and very much appreciated his producing skills later in his career for Muddy Waters. RIP Johnny.
