Sounds good, Dan. Something to bear in mind is that maple is regarded as the best wood for isolation from resonances. At least, the best wood outside of ebony. The cherry is sure pretty, though.

Stephen.......Thanks for that information. Perhaps maple would be the best way to go. Right now the Gyro SE is sitting on 1/2" tempered glass, and though I don't hear any issues I believe I can improve things by separating the turntable from the glass shelf.

Stephen, thanks for the info. on the boards and isolation devices. I had good success using those same Herbie's silicone cups and lampblack balls under my last amp. My MC402 is a bit too heavy for them though. If you want to use them for your Concept table let me know. I don't have a use for them anymore.

Hi Dan,
The board sounds like a good idea. I think it would be a good idea to get the Michell off the glass shelf.

Best,
Stephen.

Ha! There's only one phono right now! I have to swap out cables to listen to different decks for the time being.

painful, time to get at least that cj prem 15

I have the EV-1 and that is extremely good and a lot cheaper.

You can use the MC input of the 834P as well as the SUT. two phono's allready

I'd love to get that Pr15 that's on Audiogon, but ideally I need a phono stage that has two inputs.

The input of the EAR has the cables from the SUT going into it already, so only one set of inputs on that one, unfortunately.

There's a C-J EF-1 phono stage locally I could pick up...know anything about it? I think I could get it for less than a grand.

Oh, drats

EF-1. only from the reviews. Martin Colloms luved the EF-1 when it first came out.
I would buy it if it ever came up with 240 volts.

and/or you can add one of these input expanders - Luxman have been making these for 40 years, so they must be pretty good.
