Ortofon's in a Shindo system
Has anyone had experience with a standard mount Ortofons MC in the context of a Shindo system. I have and love the Emt Tsd-15, but have two Amadeus tables. I have been researching in the $2000 range, like Cadenza Bronze, Black or Royal N. I know it's much more common for Shindo users to run an SPU, but I can only run a standard mount cart. Cheers -Don

No experience, but EMT makes standard mount cartridges - JSD series - that would probably be a better match.

Sorry - Just noticed that you could get TSD in standard as well. Is that what you currently have?

I'm using a standard mount Ortofon A90, which sounds fantastic in my system - it's an excellent match in terms of output and impedance for the Shindo phono stage, and has a very detailed sound that mates well with Shindo's sound IMHO. Mind you I've only heard it periodically in a full-Shindo system, but there definitely are no problems there.

Kev313- Yes I have the nude 15 SFL. I don't plan on replacing it, so the other cartridge will spend some time in a second system, but also see duty in my main system. That's what I enjoy about having the two setups. For instance, now I have the 15 on the GTA, Homage T2 in a second system, going through a Heed Quasar mm, LM 211 driving baby Spendors. Countingbackwards- I will have to check out the Specs on your A90, and see how it compares to the Cadenzas or even the ROYAL N. I appreciate it, and certainly how it mates with your Monbrison is great to hear. I would venture to say the Royal N (spu) would also work well, but the Cadnenza I will have research.... Cheers -Don

Don - Maybe try the JSD series for Shindo compatibility with a different flavor from the TSD?

Kev313- Never gave it much thought. That seems a little boring, coming from a guy with two Amadeus tables (-: ....! Here's some specs on Ortofons,in the following order: 1st-Compliance 2nd-Internal Impedance 3rd-Rec. Load resistance. A90:16, 4ohm,>10ohm. Cad BLK:16, 5ohm, >10ohm -WOW ,very close!!! Cad BRONZE 12, 5 Ohm, 50-200 Ohm. Royal N 8, 6ohm, >100 Ohm. The weight on the Royal N also may be a concern as far as the tonearm, 13grams. I just figured throw these out there for the more technical minded. My knowledge isn't great with this stuff. Cheers -Don

Kev313- I love the Tsd-15, and my guess is I would feel similar about the JSD series. That said, a Cadenza Bronze is alot less money than the JSD series. Do you prefer the EMT's over these Ortofon's or are you just showing love for Emt. Thanks Again. Cheers -Don
