Have fun, just don't use it near speakers or actually touch the metal with the phone. It works best just slowly gliding it over cables and components within a few inches above surface

Of all the products I have tried; Stillpoints ERS is the stand out:

http://www.stillpoints.us/index.php/product/ers

I have used it extensively, one such application is lining the interior doors on all my electrical breaker boxes.

That TG2 Tri-Field meter looks pretty good*. I think Iíll pick one up.

Power line and digital noise elimination and quiet DC supplies are my next area of inquiry. Lots of ground to be gained there, I think.

* My only concern with it is the LF range goes to 100 kHz and the RF range starts at 20 MHz, leaving an important range of interference frequencies unmeasurable.

Hi Ivan, can I get a few pieces of this, enough for a couple of breaker panel covers and a component? I recall talking about this and for the price itís worth trying.

Serge, Puma et al...

I downloaded the app from EMF Detector on iTunes. I am not sure what the ideal level is, but the app lists low, medium and I presume high and never got there - I had a medium reading on my glass top Brinkmann Nyquist MK II DAC at around 100, and a lower reading on its outboard power supply located on a different shelf at 70, the bar refrigerator was over 100 but still at a medium reading. All Control4 (Home Automation) dimmers and the like were under 40. The GigaFoil was at 60, and its LPS on a different shelf and cable was at 30.

All other gear and cables were around 50 or lower.

I get this is not an accurate device, but it was a quick idea of where I stand - I will order the tester off Amazon on Prime Day.

Thatís the idea! Iím not sure what benefit additional ďaccuracyĒ will bring to the simple quest of identifying and eliminating the sources of ďdirtyĒ cords and shielding dirty components since that was my objective. It is a quick way to identify troublemakers and either replace or shuffle them around to see if there is any gain in performance. The EMF shield of choice should theoretically help isolating one component from the other by lining the shelves or perhaps even wrapping material where needed.

We shall see where this goes

Sniffing around the back of my system and found a source of a problem right away.

The Ethernet cable connecting the wifi extender used for streaming and the Bryston BDP Pi streamer has slipped off the shelf and was hanging down and looped in the vicinity of my dirtiest EMF spot of the whole system.

EFM reading in the vicinity of the Ethernet loop of cable was 115!

Solution.

1. Move the dirty component (my power conditioner) further away from the system.
2. Tidy up the Ethernet cable and remeasure. This time the reading is HALF at 56 uT.

The proof is in the listening of course!

Result: Not a drastic but a noticeable improvement in streaming performance! A more relaxed presentation and a slight improvement in depth of soundstage. Slightly sweeter top end and an increased sense of "perceived" air and resolution.

Mental note to self while back there... "What if Ethernet cables really do make a difference"? Hmm....

Cost? $0 so far.
