Serge ,
When I went from my SL1200 to the JA Michelle with SME tone arm there was a huge improvement in my vinyl sound quality in imaging, bass, over all smoothness of the mids. and a much quieter playback with almost no noise due to the way the platter is made (... from analog planet review: ...." The platter material closely matches the mechanical impedance of vinyl, which helps prevent pop- and tick-induced energy from being reflected back to the stylus-record interface. Michell claims this means lower noise from worn records. While I am sure based on the reviews, the new model SL1200 sounds better than the old model I would still be hesitant to spend $4000 on one as there are many other good options in this price range in the pre owned market. Technic is also coming out with a new SL1000Rwhich looks like a winner from what I have read coming out and you provide your own tone arm such as a SME but it is going to be 10 grand. It’s nice to see Technics back in the audiophile game with a table having some significant innovations in direct drive motor design.

Thanks for posting the videos and info Serge. I'm not at all surprised the new SP-10 is going to be pricey. The original SP-10 mk2 was over a kilobuck if I remember correctly, and that was for the turntable and power supply, no plinth, arm, or dust cover. We used them a lot in broadcast studios because they can up to speed in 1/10 of a rotation.
