Default "THE ROOM"-Ivan's Florida Home Theater

I was in Florida the end of January and I stopped by to say hello to Ivan. While I have visited Ivan at the Cape before this was my first time in Florida. First let me say the pictures in no way convey how beautiful this room is or the detail and thought that went into creating this ultimate man cave. Let me back up for a second. Prior to heading into "The Room," Ivan brought the all Accuphase/ TAD system he has in the family room to life; the Accuphase gear is impressive as is the polished finish on the TAD's. I have always been impressed with the different systems Ivan has assembled , all have fantastic synergy both in appearance and in sound quality. What is so impressive here is that this system sounds great with no acoustic treatments yet I could not hear any distortion or slap echo, just great sounding music. After hearing this I wondered how much better the system in the "The Room" could sound ? Having watched movies in the Cape Theater I had an idea of what to expect but never expected "The Room" which is older to surpass what I had heard up north. To be fair you can't really compare the 2 systems as "The Room" is larger, has higher ceilings, is wider and has no second floor above it and Ivan has had more time to tweek things to perfection. I never heard Edgar Winter-Frankenstein sound so real. Sitting there was one of those "oh wow" moments where your emotions just react and I started to just laugh; I looked over to Ivan on my left and he looked at me and he started to laugh as well. Ivan hit the remote and turned a digital DB meter on so he could monitor how loud the music was playing. Although the db meter did hit 110 just for demonstration purposes, there was absolutely no distortion, the room took the abuse and stayed well composed, the 4 huge subwoofers and gigantic Mcintosh speakers with multiple 2 kw amps attached to them just seemed to take it all in stride. Ivan pushed another button on the remote and the projector screen descended from the ceiling and the 3 gun Sony Projector turned on . The blu ray Burlesque, had a song at the end of the movie with Christina Aguilera (can't remember the name) but the power in her voice and overall dynamics were like a live concert. Getting together with Ivan is always a fun experience. My visit was short but the experience will last a long time
