I try to give you a response:

- I prefer a mono pair of 911's to a 909's stereo. A mono pair of 909's has more bass, a little fast in the transients, astonishing control and no any limit to drive any kind of speaker. But the 911's is also awesome. About overall sound quality, even I often listen the 909's monos, I never thought to change my 911's.

- For me the 069 is the best digital source and an investment for the future.

I have a question. If the 088 costs more than the 089, I was wondering why the 077 0r 808 does not cost more than the 069? and does the 069 preamp section sound as good as the 077? Thanks again.

In Italy and Germany the cost of both 088 and 089 is completely the same.

Instead the difference in price of 808 and 077 (standard version without PSU) is about 1000 euro (808's costs 1000 Euro more. Standard version with one output module and the linestage module).

The 069's costs more, but in Burmester the reference line cd player (969-970) always has a more cost.

Sorry, I was using 088+DAC. But my point here was the 069 is $10K more than the 077. And does that $10K also get a preamp section as good as the 077, or does it only go to the DAC and transport.

I quess what I am asking, and for some reason cannot get an answer is, for those people who must decide between a 069 and a 077, which is the one to get first? The 069 with it's world class transport, or 077 and maybe add a Naim DAC (as an example only) and Unitiserve for digital? Does the preamp section in the 077 make-up for not having the 069 transport? Does the transport give the Burmester CDP it's magic? I know ideally it would be best to have 069 and 077 together, why pay for overlapping? If the preamp in the 069 is as good as the 077, then clearly the 069 is the way to go, right? I also know CD is a dying breed, but the Burmester 089 and 069 CDP sound so utterly fantastic, it is very addictive indeed. Also curious what Burmester at the Munich Hi-Fi Show announces .

Hi Jim,

if you would like to achieve soon the Reference Line Burmester's magic sound I suggest you to go straight with the 069's and in future getting the reference line preamp (077's or 808's).

Here below you'll find my 808's (that I preferred to the excellent 077's after listened side by side) and 069's.
