HOLY SHIT!

I just swapped some 150s into my REF75. Thought I had a bad tube, but it turns out one of the driver tubes was crackling. I swapped in some 6H30s from another amp, and gave the system about 10 minutes to warm up. I played one side of a record to warm up my cartridge, then put on side 1 of Hugh Masakela's HOPE album (45 rpm).

WOW, just F'n WOW. Those KT150s rock'd my world. Some might argue an amp like the REF75 isn't enough for the Alexias, but at 105+ db peaks the needles seldom popped past halfway up the dial, and the bass was just amazing. The contractors working outside greatly enjoyed the tunes!

Has anyone heard yet if the 150s will work in the Ref 150? I need to replace my tubes and would rather not invest in a set of 120s if the 150s are going to get ok'd for use. Thanks.

Yes, they work as a charm... I've heard them and were very very nice on the ref150.... Not one single issue

According to a Sumiko rep I spoke with today, KT150's will work in the ref75,150,250 with great results. I'm currently looking at new amps and spoke with him about this. He said ARC just has a hard time securing enough to be able to use and sell in their amps, for now.

Thanks very much. I will email ARC about the possibility of buying some.

Considering that the G series/KT150 line has now launched, I rather suspect that several of my fellow respondents would be keenly interested in any response that you may receive from ARC Central, TMcD.

Que Dalek-esk response " Does Not Comply, Does Not Comply, Exterminate Exterminate "

I'll post what I find out next week. I was in Hong Kong on Saturday and saw the new G series. Looks beautiful in the flesh.
