Hello everyone!
First post here. I am interested in a (audio) media streamer. I determined the features I woukd like to be the following, -well integrated streaming apps (spotify, tidal and pandora) -crestron (2 way) and ipad/iphone control support -TV out for OSD -multisource/multizone -visually/physically pleasing box (component size prefered) McIntosh MB100 and Mirage/Autonomic MMS-5A both satisfy all above. If there is another option, please let me know I love the McIntosh box and it has better analog section but it has only 2 zones. I need a Usb dac for the second zone. Its OS is on a ssd. Mms is cheaper, it is essentially the same as mb100 without the good analog section but it has 4 analog + 1 digital + 1 usb zones. Its OS is on an hdd. This can be replaced with a 1tb ssd perhaps. I am having hard time deciding. I really would like 4 zones but Mb100 is really nice looking. I looked at the internal pictures of both. It looks like mms has 4 analog and 1 digital zone on a separate board, this board is replaced on the mb100 with a single zone analog section. Is there any other differences ? Did anyone entertaine the idea of adding this board to the mb100? |

Can I use both rca and xlr outputs at the same time to two different amps?

Also would like to ask, if I can use any USB DAC with this unit?
I need the USB output for my second zone, the audio quality isn't important. I was thinking of using an Audioquest Dragonfly, would it work with MB100? |

@substance.
It appears you may have created two interesting unique thread questions not related to this sticky thread which is about updating the MB100 hard drives & memory. Perhaps create new thread questions about your questions listed here and I would very much like to discuss them with you. David |

Hi Golucid, sorry for the earlier questions, I will ask the none related questions on separate threads from now on.
You mentioned that autonomic insisted you use a standalone duplicator and clone the drive instead of imaging it to a computer first. I fail to understand the logic here, did they make any explanation why? Some imaging sw won't back up the paging files, that's the only difference I know from cloning. the duplicator you have on link here is $155, I guess its not worth taking chances for that amount but I am curious why. |

I have to fix the sound first. It sounds terrible. I found this below review on the mirage mms-5a (mb100 is a mms-5a with built in dac really). It corresponds with what I suspected. The audio is compromised in the software (autonomic's fault), probably due to the capabilities of the audio dsp on the mobo. Unfortunately I don't have the testing equipment this reviewer had but I can try a couple of things and try to hear a difference. I don't expect a mcd550 kind of performance but it is fair to expect ipod on a dock kind of performance out of this fancy box.

Hello..
I have a MB100 already in use, set up, and I wonder if I can do this whole procedure of the two HD, or run the system risk being blocked ... |
