I wouldn't use any chair for listening that envelops my head. It will change the acoustics reaching the ear, and likely for the worse.

Agree. That was my initial concern. But once you are in it, your body is elevated & the chair does not encapsulate the head. The side semi-hard surfaces also bothers me, but both chairs will be relatively close together.

Will just have to suck it & see. They're sure comfy though.

I am a little hesitant, hoping that it will enhance our entertainment experience & not compromise listening pleasure, eg. noise pollution, reflection. The footprint is surprisingly small with a width of 71cm.

The OSIM U-Infinity works as a conventional recliner too with a flip of the footrest. With 19 programmes & many more downloadable from the app stores as they become available, I am swayed to give a pair of these massage recliners a go.

The unit can be controlled completely with your iPhone/iPad or Android device.

The OSIM U-Infinity also has inbuilt loudspeakers in the headrest (for use with your iPod or external source) & I'm thinking of hooking these up for surround height or width.

This new model has yet to be officially released. It is already in high demand in this part of the world & has received accolades. Our shipment from Singapore should arrive within 8-12 weeks.

I'm thinking that for critical listening, I may prefer to use it as a conventional recliner. For movies, a low frequency feedback mechanism would be an awesome programme upgrade! It would be great to daisy chain from the LFE channel or F113s for a few extra jabs & vibrational feedback! The company is always looking for customer improvement suggestions. I might inquire if this is a possibility.

Does anyone else use a massage recliner as a listening chair?

I tried this in the shop but only about half of me got into the chair. The old Osims were much bigger!

Howie, They are snug! Without adjustment, it was slightly chesty for me.
Singaporeans are tiny people. OSIM are here in Melbourne now, which was a factor when deciding to purchase...They may be limiting their Australian market potential given the statue of the greater percentage of our population.

I just use a run of the mill Stanton overstuffed club chair with an ottoman. Nothing fancy but it fits me well and is at the right height for optimum listening.

I can't take credit for planning it this way, but I had a chair and sofa custom-made a couple years ago and the chair w/ matching ottoman is my listening seat today. It is very comfortable, even for long periods. When I put my feet up it's not too hard to drift off if I'm tired.

I'm thinking of having a loveseat made so two people can enjoy the sweet spot. We're looking to build/buy a new house and until I know what the listening room will be like, it's hard to make specific plans.

As far as the 'custom' part of it, this shop does not keep an inventory except for the floor samples. You choose everything from the style to the leathers used, etc. I opted for the memory foam in mine - like they use in some mattresses. They seems a little hard at first but I really like them now.

Here's what my stuff looks like (samples from their website). My color is about halfway between these two:

I bought my listening chair and ottoman 4 or 5 years ago at a local Relax the Back store. Reasonably priced and effective. Manufacturer is Holsag
