My SFBayarea Mcintosh journey
I had a Hafler DH110/220 combo for years. I needed a new tape deck and went the Sounding Board in Berkeley to buy a Nakamichi, they were also a McIntosh dealer. Nice gear but I loved mine better. Later on I decided I wanted new speakers and I found this man who managed The Audible Difference and sold tube gear from his house around the corner from work. I was delirious with all the strange gear he had. I ended up buying a pair of Soliloquy 6.3s from him. I also ordered some Harmonic Technology Pro9 speaker cables at the same tiime. Speakers and cables came at the same time. All goed except the cables wouldn't fit the Hafler binding posts. Ordered up a PS Audio PCA2/ HCA2 and did the mods to the amp. I was happy until I found this forum and the Mac look got me. Any I took the bike out and took some pics. World of Sound MillValley is where I bought my first Mac, they closed end of March. Nice shop with BW, Canton, Kef, Mc, NAD, etc, I bought my C2500? 452 from House of Music when they a busy shop, also out of biz. Not sure what happened there, staff quit and a youngster was the only saleman there. AudiovisionSF is the current nonBestBuy dealer. Different kind of shop with more brands of speakers than Ive ever seen. They advertise a couple of Mc pieces, havent seen them setup in the store

I don't see the Mac gear on the bike. Where do you have it mounted and how does it sound when you're out cruising it?

I agree. You need the MX4000 deck and the MDA4000 dac on that bike. Don’t forget the MPM4000 meter module.

I also want to mention it is sad that McIntosh never produced any cassette decks. At one point Nakamichi provided transport mechanisms to McIntosh and I am pretty sure MX4000 guts are Nakamichi as well. A Nakamichi Dragon clone Mcintosh tape deck would be super cool.
