Honolulu is preparing to make it illegal to text while crossing a street. It has become pretty bad when we need a law to protect people from their own stupidity.

While I can't necessarily point out any specifics, I think there is a long history of laws that protect those that Darwin felt were natural casualties.

I believe that I posted these somewhere here before. No doubt the result of inattention on the other driver's part. She "customized" my 350 Z about 6 years ago while I was sitting in it. I was sitting in it while she was going the posted speed (65) or more because I was in the middle 2-way turn lane of 5 lanes on a state highway. I was instantly unconscious, thankfully, and had a concussion and 2 broken ribs from the belt. I was airlifted by the CHP to the nearest town with a neurological trauma unit.

John.......That is horrible. Thank God you survived. It is a tragedy that innocent people have to suffer at the hands of careless inconsiderate idiots. I am glad you are still among the living.

You said "she". Makes me curious about the gender statistics of texting accident perpetrators. I have a gut feeling that women cause more texting accidents than men based on my personal experience witnessing drivers texting. Now we also have numskulls live-streaming to Facebook while driving.

Glad you are around today Sir. You were damn lucky.

Best

Bob

Happened to me and my best friend on 14th Street Bridge in DC -- his brand new Toyota Supra while stopped at a red light -- a DUI driver --hit us from behind at estimated 45MPH. We were just as fortunate too -- bad memories though as neither of us blacked out.

Thank you. She was 24, I think. I never met her. She was driving a jeep Wrangler like the one I had years ago. It caught on fire and ended up on it's side. I just ammended my original post because I forgot to say that the speed limit was 65 and she was going at least that fast and I was at a stop and waiting (about 2 seconds) to turn. Apparently, she was pretty much unharmed, but went to, I think, the hospital that was just 2 miles away.

I don't want to say they all deserved their falls, but they deserved their falls.

I feel very sorry for all the innocent people to whom the texters caused injury.
