how long is break in time for the Mac Power amp ?
babysitting for a friend's MC302.. brand new.. how long does it break in and what to expect as time goes by ?

Smoother, more relaxed top end, better focused and fleshed out imaging. The musicality and coherence arrives much sooner than 100 hrs. This can and probably does vary from amplifier model to model but it is roughly a good estimate of proper break in time. That was the curve my MC501s followed as well as the various other McIntosh amps I have discussed with other owners. The actual time does not matter as it already sounds very good out of the box and gets even better within the first 15-20 hrs. The rest is just icing on the cake. Enjoy.
