If you are going to use audessy, it's always last. It should set up around you, not vice versa. That tweaking goes on after indicates that either he doesn't care for audessy or he didn't finish the set up first.

But to your point an inch can be a mile in speaker set up.

Robert thanks again for help and your kind words. This hobby is a work in progress. Next time we can adjust the speakers in the home theater With all the talk about cable tweeks, nothing affects the sound as much as adjusting the speaker placement, listening position and rake angle.

My pleasure...as for the theater, maybe after another concert demo.

With my Elipsa's, I found my sound stage with a movable eames lounge. Now I need to figure out how to pull it (sound stage) straight back 5 feet.

The bird in the hand theory, has me completely flat line static! (Afraid to move anything or vacuum.)

(The room wasn't exactly square/symmetrical).

Bill's final placement doesn't have the speakers the same distance from the adjacent walls or to my listening chair. To the naked eye they appear symmetrical, but vary a few inches here and a few inches there. It just shows to go you, let your ears determine final placement.

Yes Reg, you're absolutely right. Bill's advices are words of gold.
Yesterday, for the first time, I forgot the visual symetry that was guiding me, to trust only my ears.
I followed Bill's advices :
1/ adjust the general bass response by moving the speakers back and forward to the back wall / adjust the position towards the lateral walls : not only for bass here but the whole spectrum
2/ adjust the image and refine the bass by playing with the toe in.
Of course, Bill would surely do a better work in my home, but honestly I got the best sound I ever heard in this room for 2 years.
The bass seems to be "active" now. Faster and cleaner. And all the spectrum has an increased level of clarity. The stereo image is not only more focused and stable, it is much more realistic.
The room is now "energized".
I know understand clearly what is a set-up "by ear".
Laser and perfect symetry have nothing to see with good sound.
Not only our rooms are not symetrical most of the time, but moreover, symetrical rooms are not symetrical acoustically.
These are evidences but they are still ignored by most of us when it comes to speaker placement, while we spent large amounts of money in our systems, we tend to ignore the absolute necessity to position our speakers by our ears only.

Would a room correction device such as the KRK ergo or the DEQX solve much of the mystery and micro adjustments required to find the speakers "sweet spot"
