Several people have played this record lately . . so I pulled mine out, and I had, frankly, forgotten just how good it was.

Listening to MJQ - The Modern Jazz Quartet - The Last Concert

Recorded live in concert at Avery Fisher Hall

Milt Jackson - Vibes
John Lewis - Piano
Percy Heath - Bass
Connie Kay - Drums

And, as I type this, they are playing the best rendition of Gershwin's Summertime I have ever heard. Fantastic - worth the price of the whole album by itself.

This is a two LP Atlantic gatefold set, recorded in 1974 and the performances and sound quality are superb. If you don't have this one, you need to get it!

Great music of course, but the sound is really dreadful.
I have other CDs with some of these tracks which are so much better.
