Default Audio Research Isolation

Has anybody tried isolation products on AR gear. I am talking about platforms, feet, damping plates etc etc.

Trying to see if they will make any difference of my Ref 2 Phono....

Thanks

Howie, that sounds like you may not be getting what you want from your Ref 2...is that the case?

Howie...I put HRS Nimbus couplers and spacers underneath my ARC Ref CD7. It was not a huge difference but I got a slightly more resolving sound, allowing me to hear a little more into the mix, plus tighter more articulated bass. Here is the link: Nimbus eliminates component chassis noise. As with all such tweaks try before you buy. YMMV.

As for the Ref 2, remember to give it some 400-500 hrs of break-in time. There is a break-in contraption that Jeff (Tonepub) can point you to (I forget what it's called), that will allow you to break-in the Ref 2 by running a signal through it constantly for rapid break-in. From all the reviews/reports it will open up considerably after that break-in period. Good luck.

Thanks for the tips folks. Don't get me wrong. I am 100% happy with the ref 2 just looking to optimize it if it can be done! It is by far the best phono stage I have used and a great buy IMHO

I would look into Finite Elemente (I'm sure you're familiar with this), Wave Kinetics (DartZeel US importer uses this on all their gears), or Black Diamond Racing (the new LM series looks interesting).

Tommy,

I have a set of ceraballs and cerapucs I can try sitting around. Just wish the cerpucs came in black!

On my ARC VS 60 amp:

I used Mapleshade 4 inch maple platform with their brass micropoint footers. It made a huge difference for my system.
