My Shures actually sound pretty good with my iPhone, with solid bass at most volumes, but at higher volumes the bass can get a bit slushy (technical term there) and orchestral music can sound a bit congested. I don’t hear this with my AK or Woo WA7, but I guess in thinking more about it, this could also be the DAC or the player rather than amplifier power.

Unfortunately it has been discontinued for some time and is very hard to find. There are stereos though that do accept connections from iDevice cables.

Keep in mind that the Apple lightning to USB is quite small and works perfectly for bypassing the internal DAC. You can then connect it to almost any DAC that accepts USB audio.

The Manley Stingray iTube does not have a lightning connector but instead has the older 30 pin connector. You can use it, but you’ll need an Apple lightning to 30 pin adapter which Apple makes and sells for $29.00.
Cambridge Audio made a digital out dock as well...but also discontinued. I still use an iPod with a 160gb hard drive. I fit about 280 of my favourite Jazz CDs on in using lossless ALAC. Not high rez mindmyou...but formthe headphones I use, I doubt 23/192 PCM would make any difference. I pay more attention to the mastering version of the CD.
