According to the Shunyata website the Alpha V2 is 8 gauge. So it is the same as the Alpha V1, not the Sigma V1. I really love the Alpha V1. I’m sure the V2 will outperform the V1 but i hope the silver doesn’t make the Alpha V2 to bright. Sander. |

I am running 2 Alpha NR V2s for several weeks. They are extremely good and the sound is not bright or edgy at all...

Shunyata Alpha V2

That is good to hear. Are they replacing the V1? Are they similar in character? The first reviews are coming in. I’m really curious how the Shunyata “sound” is developing. From the CX series to Xtron to the NR series. It seems the character is going up and down, from laidback to fast and brighter to more relaxed again to yet tighter and more transparent. Let’s hope the reviewers will comment on those changes, or non-changes compared to earlier models. |

I cannot comment on Alpha v1 as I've only had Sigma NR generation 1 of the latest power cords. I've not had the CX or ZTron series to this. In the past I owned many older Shunyata power cords (approx. 10 Anaconda VX, 6-8 Anaconda, 4 Taipan VX and a couple Taipan plus 2-3 Venoms); this is in the 2006-2011/12 timeframe. Perhaps others with more recent experience with the cable-gens you cite wiill chime in. |

@SCAudiophile could you comment on comparison between the previous Sigma V1 and the Alpha V2 please? I am deeply interested in your comparative thoughts.

The Sigma NR V2 is even more amazing. Have been playing 1 here on various components for about 3 months. I cannot wait to be able to jump to the Sigma XC V2 for my Typhon QR and umbilical. The Alpha NR V2 is the undeniable sweet spot in the line and alot of more expensive vendors should be nervous IMHO. I have 2 here for quite a few weeks playing continuously as an FYI... Happy to discuss tracks, discs, etc...that I have listened to via phone, send an IM and we can connect. Last edited by SCAudiophile; 05-16-2020 at 06:36 PM. |

@SCAudiophile thank you very much for your post It seems much has been achieved with the QR business from the V1 Omega's and V2 models are now chalk/cheese relative to V1 alpha/sigma. It is extremely clear to me that I need one of these QR BB cords in my system
If I may ask a follow up question you note that the Sigma V2 is even nicer than the Alpha V2 which seems a very reasonable proposition. I just wonder if you have described that difference further elsewhere as I would be very interested to read the description. Again thanks for coming back to the forum with your opinion on the difference between V1 Sigma and V2 Alpha. Great to hear peoples' subjective experiences first hand. |

Just in the interests of accuracy, the new Delta, Alpha and Sigma NR v2 series of power cords do not have an inline QR/BB device as the Omega QR does. They *do* have built-in NR capability, and the NR filter in the V2 versions have been refined to provide better sonic performance than the original Version 1 NR-series of power cords. I can add to Mark's (SCAudiophile) comment about the Sigma NRv2 vs. the Alpha v2: They are both, in a word, outstanding; the Sigma NR v2...even more outstanding. The best analogy I can think of is this: The Alpha NR v2 is like a Porsche GT3 RS; the Sigma NR v2 is like a Porsche GT2 RS. Both are superb, very high-performance cars (or cables) with impeccable engineering specifications with rather astonishing performance envelopes....its just that the turbo-charged GT2 is even more incredible than normally-aspirated GT3.
