I also have a dead f113. Lucky I ran across this post.
I'm a little confused by the hour rating of the caps?

The two part numbers listed here...Mouser Electronics, claim 1,000 hrs.

Then I read, in the post, where this is a low number?
Some here are saying to look for 6,000 hrs. - 8,000 hrs. ?

If I were to have JL do the repair....what life and temp would they replace with?
2 hour drive for me.

Do they upgrade from original?

f113 v1

Well, my 10 years old F113v1 died yesterday. I was expecting that to happen at some point but to be fair, I haven't had any problem with it since I purchased it. I'm glad I found this thread as like many others, I'm trying to avoid sending the whole unit for repair (for obvious reasons). However, I'm facing problems while trying to remove the heatsink / amp part from the cabinet. I've tried to use a machine screw slightly larger than the holes in the heatsink (as suggested) but not only I did not succeed in removing it (I mean it is really stuck there, it does not move at all) but one of the screws I used broke while screwing and is stuck in the hole... it's going to be 'fun' to try to remove it from there as it's one of the holes located in the heatsink threads which makes access very difficult. Normally, that's the kind of little jobs I like and can handle but this time around, it didn't start well to say the least.

Any ideas? Your help is appreciated

Thanks!

My only suggestion would be to try some lubricant (WD-40 perhaps or something similar) and see if that helps eliminate friction to assist you in loosening up the screw.

Guy.......You may have selected a machine screw that is too large. I used four metric M6 phillips pan head machine screws. They measure 45mm length. They are slightly larger than the hole in the heat sink but the softer aluminum allows the machine screw to tap threads into it. Gradually screw them through the heat sink across the top, then screw each screw a turn or so back across the top until the amp heat sink pulls away from the recessed area of the subwoofer cabinet. Once the amp plate is free, unscrew the machine screws and save for future use.

The machine screw that broke off should be easier to remove once you have the amplifier out of the cabinet.

Additionally; on removing stubborn amp plates, I have used more than one Bolt to force the amp plate out of the cabinet.

Thank you all for the suggestions. I will follow them and reply back. I found one machine screw slightly smaller in my inventory yesterday that will fit better. I need to buy a few more and retry.
