Ooops - I should have corrected myself, the PPP uses a WW Silver Electra - it is the RGPC1200C that has it's half-proprietary cord that is stalky.

Just to provide some examples of scale, the entry level molded Shunyata Power cords, the Venom3 and DiamondBack Platinum, are 12 AWG. By contrast, the Black Mamba CX is comprised of 148 conductors and the Black Mamba HC CX is comprised of 200 conductors; in both cords, all are braided together by hand inside the cord body with the braids crossing at 90 deg. This is one reason why thse cords cost what they do; as they are built by hand and are very labor-intensive in their manufacturing. My guess is that the AWG is quite a bit larger than 12 AWG.

If I remember correctly, you're certainly right. I think the HC Shunyata is 5 AWG.

That would seem to be in the ballpark; here's a pic of my Black Mamba CX plugged into the wall; this is the smallest of the CX series of PCs. This is plugged into a cryo'd Shunyata SR-Z1 AC receptacle I put in the wall in place of the original one; it also made a difference in sound quality.

Speaking of the Stratus 5 entry-level PC, I have two of them and I really like them a lot. They are a killer value for the money. I haven't compared them directly to my DiamondBack Platinum in an A/B comparo, but anecdotally, they seem to sound every bit as good. I also like the quality of the silver-plated connectors, the nice solid plugs and the flexibility of the flat cable. Easy to dress.

My mistake. Actually, it's the King Cobra that's 5 AWG (I looked it up); I'm guessing the Mambas are perhaps 9 AWG; I'd have to check on that.

In the past years, I’ve owned/reviewed the RSA Haley and Duke, Blue Circle MR1200, APC S15, Audio Magic Stealth XXX, Silver Circle Pure Power One 3.0, and Exact Power EP15. Each responded differently to power cord placement. This one gets a big YMMV.
