Thank you, everyone, for your warm welcome.

I'm based in Bangkok, Thailand. Fortunately, my house and the system were not troubled by the recent great flood that caused catastrophic losses to many.

As for the MWI Oppo 95, I ordered with it the Truth Umbilical and am still running-in the unit with stock tubes. Got a used Mullard GZ34 metal base (Holland 1957) and a pair of NOS Sylvania JAN-CHS-6SN7W metal base (chrome top) to be installed later.

My other digital front end gear are Bryston BDP-1 & BDA-1. I loaned the Onkyo PRSC-5507 pre/pro to a friend, until my new house with an audio/HT room is ready late next year. So, now I'm playing 2-channel only for both music and movies/concerts.

Welcome klao!! Glad to hear the good news on your Modwright! I replaced the rectifier with a NOS Mullard CV1377. I did not notice much, if any difference like I did with my amplifier. However I do notice quite a bit difference rolling the 6SN7’s. The Sophia’s defiantly sound better than the Harmonix. It is my opinion they are not $200 worth better, but defiantly better. My new red base RCA’s sound better on my Klipsch but I suspect that people with conventional speakers will like the Sophia’s or NOS Sylvania type tubes the best. Below is a response I received on another forum in regard to my speaker’s causing ear fatigue and sounding too bright for me:

“Garbage in garbage out. The great majority of readily available 2-channel material is barely fit for a Bose system. Unless you have a nice library of well recorded material, horns will overwhelm you with their unforgiving nature. Horns force you to seek out good recordings, and it can be a frustrating process. If DVDs and Blu-rays are knocking you out of your seat (and I highly suggest getting some good DVD and Blu-ray concert discs) -- that's the only indicator you need -- it's not the source components, room, or speakers. “

I must say I agree with it. DVD-A and SACD sound stunning on my newly Modwright Modified player.

I got the tube modded Oppo 95 and put in the Mullard rectifier tube and the Sophia output tubes that Dan Wright recommended and it's quite extraordinary: even on basic CD's: huge soundstage, details in music that I never heard before. A world famous speaker designer (he started two of the biggest and most acclaimed companies in the 80's and 90's) got one and he told me he can't believe it either. He says he can't stop listening to it. Neither can a noted audiocritic and $100k-plus amp designer acquaintance who tried mine out. He's calling Dan this weekend to order one too. I can't think of any higher praise.

New poster here! Great thread (and Forum)! I'm also anxiously awaiting Dan's BDP-95 digital input mod, and seriously thinking of combining that with his SS only mod, for pairing with my Squeezebox Touch. Hope he'll have a finalized design soon. Only issue might be accessing the toggle switch on back, as my Oppo is sandwiched into a rack with little rear panel access. Would probably need to reconfigure my rack setup and put the Oppo on top shelf.
