Mercedes-Benz Officially Kills off the SLC-Class Roadster (formerly known as SLK)
`
The SLC name of the last year or so is somewhat interesting as SLC was what they called the full-sized SL in the long wheelbase, fixed roof version decades ago, and now it's dead by any name. https://www.automobilemag.com/news/s...CD6D78642C17A2 ------------------------  .

The SLK series has essentially no storage space with 2-people and the top down. That's why we opted for smallest 2-door BMW. Can take it shopping or on weekend jaunts. Even haul a grand-kid or two in a pinch.

We opted for BMW as well simply because of the practicality of the larger car (3 series). Not really an apples-to-apples comparison, but the SLK was a lot of fun to drive for someone who's only car for 12 years was an MGB. (factcheck: ~8 of those years were in places where I did not actually drive)

Apparently BMW is staying-the-course (for now) with the new Z4 (the open-top version of the new Toyota Supra). Both are built in a factory in Austria (like the Boxster was built in a factory in Finland) and developed jointly by BMW (powertrain) and Toyota. MSRP is $50K+. Automobiles have embraced the 'world economy' like not other product.
