Default PrimaLuna EVO integrateds

Anyone have any experience with the New EVO 300 or 400 integrated? A few months ago I added new Sonus Faber Minima Amators to my 2nd system, where the amp is a Luxman SQ-N100. I love this little amp, and it’s fine for most quiet listening, but occasionally if I bump the volume a bit it feels like it’s running out of steam. I’m debating whether to just stick with the Luxman, which sounds great at modest levels, which is most of my listening in this room, or move to a PrimaLuna EVO 300, which my local dealer has available.

I know someone will be ready to jump in with “you should really look at brand x,” but right now I’m just interested in if anyone has any experience with the EVO series integrated.

I recently compared the Evo 300 integrated (EL34) to the Jadis Orchestra Reference (KT120)

Hooked up to a pair of Tannoy Ardens (the modern ones).

With that combination the Evo 300 was the one I preferred. It has much more punch and dynamics.

The Jadis is sweeter and more laid back.

I guess it depends on what you are looking for. The Ardens have a vintage sound so I preferred the dynamics on the Evo 300 more. I normally use a Luxman 505/9 on the Ardens.

I like the Evo also for the ability to do tube rolling.

Personally it’s a tougher choice between the integrated to the power amp.

I like the power amp for the balanced connections and the ability to switch to mono mode.

But the integrated has a damn impressive headphone amp that’s powered by the tubes!

I have not heard the new EVO and fwiw, even if there is no sonic improvement over the previous gen and one would think there should be, you’re still in for a treat! I love my PrimaLuna Dialogue Premium HP. Not only does it pair very synergistically with the Harbeth speakers, it is also a phenomenal tube driven headphone amp I would think EVO integrated would pair up very nicely with your speakers.

Thanks for the feedback guys, sounds like this could be the right move. I can bring one home for a demo, but unfortunately this non-essential outing to my dealer will have to wait for the curve to flatten here in Washington.[emoji41]

I have been getting great synergy between my PrimaLuna Dialogue Two(with KT88s) and my Sonus Faber Cremona, my SF Elipsas, and I’ll second Serge’s opinion, also a good match with my Harbeth 30.1

The Dialogue Two is a well built, dynamic amp, with detailed highs, rich mids and tight bass, and with a good soundstage. Great value for the money.

PrimaLuna amps are autobias which facilitates tube rolling and you can choose between triode and ultra linear mode, nice features to have.

Don’t think you would go wrong with the EVO 300
