Even in a closeup, it was very hard to see Gary Oldman.
We saw it a small theatre, and I don’t think anyone was under 50! |

Terrible error with a C-47 Dakota shown in the trailer which is set in May-June 1940. The Dakota did not have its first flight until 23rd December 1941.
Winston Churchill used for his travels to France in May and June 1940, a De Havilland D.H. 95 "Flamingo". I know only 14 were built & none survive- but this is when CGI should be used to correct the planes appearance. |

I watched this in Dolby Cinema on opening day. Don't expect to see much action. But Gary Oldman delivered a superb performance.

I liked the movie, but I couldn't understand more than half the words Churchill said . I'd like to see it with subtitles so I can get the full effect.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I have turned off movies because I can't understand the dialogue. It is a plague infecting most movies. I don't get how you can spend $100 million on a movie and not master it in a way that the audience can understand the words!

They tell you in the first minute of the movie that Churchill is difficult to understand and prone to mumble.

To alter the authenticity and make the enunciation more discernible to the general public would have been a mistake in my books.
For Churchill fans, the Gathering Storm with Albert Finney and Vanessa Redgrave is a great movie too (and with Tom Hiddleston in his youth). |
