Hi Grant,

I have 2 units of cyclops to power my Gryphon Mephisto stereo (1 amp, 2 power inlets). Will the Denali 2-outlet unit improve on the cyclops ?

I live in 240V country but I am using US plug configuration. When will this configuration become available (good for 240V but comes with US plug) ?

Thanks.

Regards,
Joe Ling

Hi Joe,

I'm not prone to overstatements. I will say that the performance difference is significant between Cyclops and Denali. Denali is essentially an in-line Typhon. Larger NIC's and refined internal parts vs. Cyclops. It is a significant improvement. It is also half-again the price, so I recommend a careful audition prior to purchase.

Until any product stands the test of time on the market, it hasn't vetted itself. You and others that try and compare are a better test of value than any opinion we hold based prototyping. In my system and Caelin's, its a significant improvement. Let's find out what others have to say. That's the real test. They are shipping and are broken in prior to ship, so the wait won't be long.

Best regards,

Grant

Sorry. Yes, all Denali's are available in US outlet, 240v. EU Eiger Series--similar to Denali but different implementation of the technology, will come available in Fall.

Best regards,

Grant

Grant,
This is the first time I have heard of a Shunyata product being broken in prior to shipping. Can you explain this comment?
Best

Hi Grant,

Can you tell us a bit more on the reasons for a different implementation of the technology in the EU Eiger Series?

Hi Adam,

Caelin has developed a specialized conditioning system he refers to as the Kinetic Phase Inversion Process (KPIP). It's more than a break-in process. It virtually obviates the benefit of our cryo-tanks and has a more dramatic effect than break-in using music or motors (for power cords). We are starting to use the process for Sigma, Alpha and Hydra models prior to shipment. Caelin has increased the size of this multi-box system to accommodate a greater load of product. It already takes up an entire section of one of our warehouses. We considered making this into a commercial product, but decided against it based on the degree of benefit and the likely 5-figure price it would have to sell for.

This does not mean the products won't have to go through a settling period after shipping and integration into a new system. However, it will dramatically reduce the peaks-valleys of break in and shorten the time it takes to complete the process. Because of cost, we cannot afford to use the process with our Venom level products.

Best regards,

Grant

Yes, due to the units being 240v schuko, it will be a different build-out internally. The new filters Caelin developed are massive. Instead of 2 of these unique filters in the US Denali models, there will be 4 of the filters in the Eiger models. There are other internal and chassis/metal-work differences that make the EU model worthy of its own designation. Hydra Eiger will cost slightly more based on our added cost in material and labor. The same has been true with the Hydra Triton and v2. This unit is different enough that we decided it should have its own designation.

Best regards,

Grant
